3er-Stander

Plastic/metal, matt chrome finish, brass lead

Took me some time to discover purpose of these ballpoints.
Their simple and nice design fascinated me but also kept me puzzled since I found two
different sets and always without cap...which seemed strange.

They create nice filling held in hand and the texture is very nice to hold and see.
Actually I have seen very rarely use of this kind of texture...reminds of Artpen's texture but more scaled and glossy.

One set I found is older then the other.
Older one has "W.Germany" on bottom and was filled with rather rarely found Rotring MICROLINE 708E refill in three colors.
The newer one has no mark on bottom and is filled with Rotring 410E refills.

Actually it is very similar and has same top as 031 866 Ballpoints but with different bottom, without clip .
...so I also expect similar 1977 date of first production.

Took some time to figure it out since they are so rare and have no catalogue mentions.
Finally, with the help of Erwin Simon, we found the last photo from 1990s catalogue which finally explained how they were used.

Obviously available also in white.
