Description

xxxx Tikky 2mm Prototype

This is probably the rarest rotring item I have ever found.
I actually couldn't believe this one existed and was very skeptical about it.
But I am convinced now it is real.
Not much info about it is know at all...I found it in Germany for considerable price.

First, the date.
Well, initially I thought this is late 1980s try to build 2mm tikky...but upon more careful examination I noticed few things.
Firstly, the clip is almost the same as early pre-tikky models from 1978. Here you will see it compared with early 502 005 - F0.5 finelead model.
Also the cap itself is shaped as early models, but is shorter and has thicker inside to fit 2mm mechanism.
This kind of cap is one of the reasons I believe it is authentic, since it is different than any tikky cap, but looking exactly as early models from outside when closed.

Mechanism is the same as on first generation PS2 2mm models.

That is why I was worried that could be faked. Actually very similar fake 'frankenpen' could be made out of tikky and early PS model.
But the cap is not replaceable since no other model has it like this, but more importantly the body itself has factory made twists that can hardly be changed to be like these. To make the 'frankenpen' from tikky you would have to saw off the top twist and then make new inside twist which would never come out as it was factory made. No tikky body has it like this.

Has no eraser or sharpener in cap.

So my conclusion is that this is really is 1970s prototype...an attempt to prepare tikky 2mm clutch version, but for some unknown reasons rotring decided to put out PS2 clutch pencil instead.

Most amazing find.
